ግዕዝ  በአፍሪካ ቀንድ   በኢትዮጵያና  በኤርትራ በጥንት  የተመሠረተና  ሲያገለግል  የቆየ  ቋንቋ ነው። የግዕዝ  አመጣጥ  በግምት  የዛሬ  ፫  ሺህ  ዓመት  ከየመንእና  ደቡብ  አረቢያ  በመነሣትና  ቀይ ባህርን  በመሻገር  በኤርትራ  እና ሰሜን  ኢትዮጵያ  ውስጥ  ከሰፈሩ  የተለያዩ  የሳባውያን  ነገዶች  ቋንቋና  በጊዜው  ሰሜን  ኢትዮጵያ  ይነገሩ  በነበሩ  ቋንቋዎች  ዘገምተኛ  ውኅደት  ነው። በበአክሱም መንግስት ና  በኢትዮጵያ  መንግሥት  መደበኛ  ቋንቋ  ነበር።

The origin of Geez is approximately 3 thousand years ago, rising from Yemen and South Arabia and crossing the Red Sea and settling in Eritrea and northern Ethiopia, with the language and language of various Sabian tribes.
